The balance of good hand washing habits versus becoming over-zealous and causing harm is a subject worth discussing.
Washing hands too many times or using harsh soaps or hot water can cause cracks in the skin, which can be entry point of bacteria and viruses. It can also lead to nail damage or nail disease.
Irritant Contact Dermatitis is a kind of rash that anyone exposed to harsh conditions can get ( it is different than Allergic Contact Dermatitis that only people with allergies get).
Teach kids good hand washing habits but also keep a watchful eye on their little hands. Always, use 𝗹𝘂𝗸𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 and 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗮𝗽. Get in habit of 𝗺𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 with a light moisturizer after washing hands.

“Birthmark” doesn’t mean much… there are hundreds of different lesions that you can be born with and they can range from
1- completely benign and harmless to
2- somewhat concerning and needing monitoring, to
3- necessitating removal, to
4- having potential to be associated with syndromes and neurological problems and needing genetic testing.
Proper diagnosis is key 🔑
