✨Periungual Warts on Toes Resolved after a Few Cryotherapy Sessions✨

👣 Periungual warts around the toenails can be painful and stubborn, especially when kids pick, bite, or wear tight shoes.

Treatments that actually help:

🥶 Cryotherapy (freezing): quick, effective- but hurts a bit & needs several sessions

🪲 Cantharidin (“beetle juice”) for younger kids- but needs several sessions & if not used correctly can lead to making it worse

⚕️Topical compounded medication that has cantharidine, salicylic acid (prescription strength), and other medications- but can be challenging or expensive to get

3️⃣ Your pediatrician is correct that MC will resolve on its own. However it usually lasts months to years if untreated. So we pediatric dermatologists prefer to treat it early.

4️⃣ YCANTH™ is the first FDA-approved prescription treatment. It’s a cantharidin-based (🪲 beetle juice 🪲 ) solution applied in clinic by a dermatologist.

5️⃣ The treatment works by creating a controlled blister to open up the bump so the immune system clears the virus faster. Blisters heal in few days. Usually 3- 4 treatments are needed.
